The Spain international, who is on loan from Chelsea, missed his team's Champions League match against Braga because of an issue he sustained while warming up for the European clash.
The shot stopper underwent scans on Thursday and it was confirmed that he has suffered an abductor muscle injury and will be out for between two and three weeks, reports.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 29-year-old has been a key figure for Carlo Ancelotti's team since coming in to replace the injured Thibaut Courtois. He has kept six clean sheets in his 13 appearances for the Spanish giants.
His injury on Wednesday saw Ukraine international Andriy Lunin step in to take his place against Braga. The 24-year-old saved a penalty just four minutes into the game and pulled off three more stops as Madrid went on to win 3-0 in the Champions League clash.

WHAT THEY SAID
"It is not easy to enter at the last minute, but you have to be prepared," Lunin said after the game. "When it's your turn, you have to do what you know. There is not much to tell about the penalty. I want to thank the goalkeeping coach for his help. It is a save for both of us."

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Lunin will be back between the posts on Saturday when Madrid host Valencia in La Liga.
