Christian Eriksen provided the assist for Jan Vertonghen to head Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.
Indeed, Vertonghen nodded the Denmark international’s corner into the back of the net in the 91st minute to secure a huge three points for Jose Mourinho’s side.
At the time of the substitution, some of the fans were not best pleased that the attacker had been introduced as the speculation surrounding his future continues.
Some of the supporters, meanwhile, claimed that the substitution had come far too late as it left Eriksen with little time to make a significant impact.
It is not as if the former Ajax youngster smashed one into the top corner from 40 yards to secure the win, but there is no question that he played a key role in the second goal.
Mourinho certainly had the last laugh when it came to this particular change, though, and some of the fans hinted that they were confident all along that the alteration would work.
